2001 Ford KA oil loss from transaxle breather

Car: Ford KA
Year: 2001
Variant: 1.3 L Endura E 5 speed manuall
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
Oil appears to be coming out of the transaxle breather situated behind the brake booster. Oil is covering the drive shaft boots and hydraulic steering shaft boot. Originally diagnosed as a drive shaft seal, when seal replaced problem persists. I have noticed engine oil has been overfilled by approx 600ml. Would overfull engine oil contribute to transaxle loosing oil (pressure build-up ??)

Too much engine oil can cause build up of crankcase pressure . You will need to wash down / clean off old oil and locate where the leak is coming from . Take it back to whoever wrongly diagnosed and replaced driveshaft seal ?

Transmission oil is definitely coming out of the breather tube located behind the brake booster. After the drive shaft seal was replaced and oil leak persisted, I fitted a plastic bag over the breather and have subsequently collected a fair amount of oil. 2 questions: (1) If the transmission is overfull, where is the level measured, is it at the round plug with a recessed hex head at the front of the transmission. (2)If it is not overfull, what would cause oil to come out of the breather.
