Ford KA ka only sparks on 1,2 & 3

Hi I would be grateful for a bit of help on a similar subject that was posted recently I'm trying to save the daughter an expensive repair but things have moved on since I last serviced my own cars. Problem KA firing on 1,2,&3 engine fault light illuminated. Changed plugs changed no 4 HT lead still no joy is the next move the distributer / coil?. Theres one on a car in scrap yard where I had the lead from. Is it just a question of new coil or could the problem lie elsewhere? its a 1300 Duratec engine.

Would check / replace coil pack first .

these engines run on edis system so there is just a coil unit most likely this that is the cause of the problem and would recommend a new unit as dont really cost alot of money there are motor factors that keep these in stock at reasonable prices too so wont cost the earth
