The heater is working but only blows cold air the pipes that feed the heater under the bonnet get warm and you can hear the heater sucking in the air but all that comes out i the cab is cold air

the common on ka s is the heater control valve. its in the wiper box area.check the feed to it first you should see voltage when changing heat in car.(((it only shows volts when turning)))if volts show replace valve

My Ford Ka 2002 heater stopped working 4 days ago, just blowing warm air on number one and cold on all others. It now has stopped blowing warm air on all speeds. I have had it in the garage and the mechanic claims its the start of the head gasket going, but I'm not convinced. He's fixed the valve on the bulk head but this hasn't made a difference, he has also taken the thermostat out which he claims its not needed! After running the car the water which feeds the raidiator boils up when the cap is released.

Any ideas?

Thanks

That's a good one in this weather " you dont need a thermostat " !!!! It takes long enough for the engine to get to operating temp . with a working thermostat .If cooling system is pressurising , especially with no thermostat , very likekly head gasket . Get a sniff test ( block test ) to confirm .

Try bleeding cooling system .If it keeps airlocking usually sign of head gasket also .

If the heater valve and theromstat have been checked already then you are looking at the water pump having failed.
If the coolant did not have enough anti-freeze in it the the system will have frozen, you then start the car and the plastic impeller on the pump is sheared off.
only option is to replace the pump.

My Ford Ka is doing the same except i have changed the valve and the regulator. Water is getting to the valve as when i take it off water leaks out and the pipe gets hot. i dont believe there is a air lock as the water leaks out so any suggestions??
Thanks
