2003 Ford KA stutter and high idle rev`s

Car: Ford KA
Year: 2003
Variant: 1.3 Duratec
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi All,

Got a problem with the Girlfriends KA. For about a week or so the car has been idleing higher than normal and also the car will stutter under load or pulling off from junctions, as she goes to accelerate there will be no power there and all of a sudden the power would kick in and she would be off.

We`ve had a mechanic look at the engine and he can`t see what the problem is he has checked all the plugs and coli pack and says that they are ok.

I`ve changed the HT leads on the car and this seemed to solve the problem for a couple of days but it returned, so I disconnected the battery to reset the ECU and see if this would help.

1st time starting the car after putting the batery back on this again seemed to cure it. But, just had a phone call from the GF and she is saying that the fault has returned so I`m running out of ideas as to what is causing this.

Any advise and suggestions you can offer will be of great help.

Cheers
Dave

Probably best bet would be to get a diagnostic scan and see what shows . Otherwise you are just guessing and replacing parts , maybe not needed , hoping it will cure fault .
