1997 Ford KA central locking

Car: Ford KA
Year: 1997
Variant: manual
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
my central locking doesngt work.

i have to open it by...
-going to the passenger side
-turning the key but keep it turned wile i open the door. (it makes a relle wierd noise like its trying to lock and unlock it self)
- reach over to the drivers side and unlock the door and push it open.
-shut the passenger door and walk around.

but as soon as i get in the drivers side and shut the door the car automatically locks its self and the noise stops.

does anyone know how i could fix it ?
and roughly how much it would cost me or a professional to do it ??

i used to have to do the same thing, ie unlocking from passenger side then walking round to get in the drivers side (mine also made the weird unlocking/locking thing, but only when wet)

after few months of this, the handle on the drivers side got a little stiff and now has broken, so now i not only have to unlock from the passenger side i also have to reach across and open the whole door from the outside!!

does anyone know how much this will cost me to get fixed? can any machanic do it or do i need to go to ford??
