2007 Ford KA high revs on gear change and stalling (cutting out) when stopped

when changing gears, revs continue and takes a while to come down.
when coming to a stop, car shakes violently and engine cuts out.
i have to keep reving when stopped and brake using handbrake when im slowing down so i can keep revs up.
no problems when im in driveway facing downhill.
took car to local garage and using a basic diagnostics no errors appeared, appart from revs are far too low.
then took car to ford and their diagnostics came up clear. ran ok for a day, but now back the problems above.
local garage said it could be idle valve?
any suggestions/ solitions?

Is the car not still under warranty ? If so,go to dealer and get someone to go out on a roadtest with you to see what is happening and what your complaint is .

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY CAR I HAVE EXPERIENCE IN MOTOR VEHICLE ENGNEERING AND AT FIRST THOUGHT THE IDLE VALVE WAS AT FAULT AS CAN GIVE THESE SYMTOMS! SO I WOULD SAY THE FIRST THING TO DO IS TO TAKE THAT OFF AND CLEAN UP WITH CARB CLEANER, ALSO CHECK THAT THE FLAP INSTEAD MOVES FREELY! THIS SHOULD MAKE IT A BIT BETTER BUT IF YOU FIND THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURING THEN THE NEXT STEP IS THE AIR MASS METRE THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM WITH KA'S AND CAUSING TOO MUCH AIR TO ENTER THE SYSTEM. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING TRY UNPLUGGING IT AND SEE WHETHER TH ENGINE NOTE CHANGES IF IT DOES NOT THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM. YOU CAN TRY REMOVING THIS AND STRIPPING BACK TO THE THROTTLE BODY AND AGAIN CLEANING IT ALL OUT WITH CARB CLEANER AND IT SHOULD WORK! IF NOT THEN IT NEEDS REPLACING AND I FOUND ONE ON A PARTS FINDER WEBSITE FOR 25 PUND WHICH USUALLY THEY REATIL AT ABOUT 120.00 BUT HAS CURED THE PROBLEM!! HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

hi there, i've got a ford ka. tonight i noticed that when appraoaching traffic lights or a junction and was in neutral coming to a stop, the engine sounded really loud and high as though i had my foot on the accelerator and was trying to move whilst in neutral, but my foot was not on the accelerator. i then put the clutch down and it stopped!!! if anybody can help then that would be great!!! any solutions welcome and what's up with it would be great!!
