is it the old engine or the newer one with the black rocker cover and spark plugs on the back of the engine?

take off the air intake near the batery and on the back of the engine to the right hand side is the thermostat housing which has 3 phillips screws holding the coce on its quite tight to get your hands to but ive known them fail commonly

Simple job .How do you know thermostat gone if you haven't tested it ? What is problem you are having?
