2011 Ford KA remote opens and locks car but won’t always start it spare key isn’t electronic and starts every time

The remote had a battery change and it does open the doors and boot but won’t always start the car,my spare key which is just a normal key not electronic always seems to work what could be the problem?

Dont know why if it was working o.k prior to changing the battery and works / starts the car sometimes and sets the alarm as it should .Spare key may have a chip inside otherwise it would trigger the anti-theft device, engine immobilising system causing non start
