1998 Ford KA sudden stalling

Car: Ford KA
Year: 1998
Variant: 1.3
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Can anyone help please? Bought a KA for me and the missis to share on Thursday. Thursday evening, the horn stopped working whilst she was pipping outside her house. The fuse hasn't gone as according to the manual, the same fuse also supplies the hazards lights, which are working fine. Secondly, whilst driving it around yesterday, the car cut out 4 times for no apparent reason whilst driving it. I hadn't stalled (as I was in about 3 or 4th gear) I am a fairly experienced driver, so know Im not doing anything wrong. I have asked a couple of friends and they think the horn thing may well be the alternator. Could the 2 things be connected, and if so, are alternators expesnive to repair? cheers

stalling will probely be the idle speed control valve electics on the ka are poor your best bet is to get a garage to scan the car using dds
