1998 Ford KA struggling to gain speed and strange smell

Please help!! Been for a drive this morning and the car felt as if it was pulling when I was trying to speed up. Felt like the car could break down at any point. When I stopped driving there was a really nasty and strange smell like burning coming from the car????

the ignition coil pack is a common problem on these does it feel like a misfire if so the smell may be the catalyst as it will have unburnt fuel going down the exhaust .anotther possibility is the exhaust may be blocked

sounds more like a clutch fault to be honest
