Front tyres have worn away to the steel, only been on the car for 2 weeks also steering feels shaky.

With tyre wear as bad as that you must have serious wear or alignment problems on steering / susp , needing checked out asap .

as above check lower arm bushes and ball joint for wear check track rod ends check front dampers for correct operation (bounce test) check wheel alignment also make sure lower arms are not bent
