The Ka stats ok but pinks and runs very erratically when going uphill and particularly when cold also there is a smell of petrol outside the vehicle

Pinking is a serious issue which can have many causes,worn plugs, incorrect fueling,timming,it can cause serious engine damage ,I would first get the codes read.
