2006 Ford KA ignition warning light

Car: Ford KA
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.3
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The ignition warning light has been on all the time for the last couple of weeks. I've checked the battery in case the alternator wasn't charging but battery is at full charge. There is also a rubbing/grinding sound coming from the steering - not sure if this is connected or a separate fault? Do anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?
