Losing power on acceleration and when going uphill

Had an engine malfunction message displayed on dash. Power loss when driving, especially uphill and when pulling away from stationary position. Depress accelerator and no or very little power, so not good to drive it.

If manual gearbox , slipping clutch . If automatic , need to get it scanned for fault codes .If engine fault could try changing fuel filter . If still having problems a diagnostic should show other possible causes and fault codes . Maybe turbo related ., check for any hose leaks .

If you have a dash message there should be a fault code logged that can lead diagnostic
