2004 Ford Galaxy gear change not smooth

My car runs fine in all gears, but it has started lurching into gear (both when going up in gear and when slowing down). My car is 10yrs old but has only done 70,000mls. So should be good for a few years yet. Is this likely to be an expensive repair do you think ?

Well these gearboxes are well known in the trade for problems.
All I can suggest is check the transmission fluid level and if that's ok then it needs the gearbox scanned.
Just like scanning the engine for fault codes the gearbox operating computer can hold fault codes in memory.
Best place to start.
