Occasional difficulty starting and erratic running

We have just had our engine rebuilt and a new turbo fitted after a major failure. The car occasionally is difficult to start and then seems to be slow to pick up and run properly. then sometimes it is fine.I have put a code reader on it today but no codes came up?

Code reading isn't enough,
you need to see live data on the fuel rail pressure,
to begin with that is!
