2003 Ford Galaxy car stalling and runs uneven galaxy 2003

Car: Ford Galaxy
Year: 2003
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi there, I have recently bought my Galaxy and it has developed a fault wich is not detectable on any diagnostics??
I have had my mechanic "plug" in the diagnostic gear 3 times and this is what came up :

1: theft system not active due to unreadable key.

I am absolutely stunned and can not figure out what can be wrong?
Can it be plugs, coil pack, leads or maby even contaminated fuel??

Please help as this is my only means of transport with a pregnant missus.

Thank you

Possibly the key antenna is not picking up the key chip properly it may be nothing to do with the running fault ,But the fact it,s logged, and no other codes are I would go down that road of investigating it first, try your spare key ,check the connections ,first. Unless you have an obvious misfire issue you could carry out a cylinder balance check and see if it,s isolated to just one cylinder,or across the range, hope that this is of some help to you.

Hi, thanks for the post. I've now done another diagnostic test and it has come up with a missfire on cyl 3? What can I do and how much do you think it would cost me.

Thanks again

go out when its dark and start up engine with the bonnet up to see if your getting arcing of cylinder 3 lead if so change it, if not put a new set of plugs in if you have not done so already.

First check the plug and eliminate it by swapping to another position,if the fault carries over then you know then that the plugs faulty .If the fault remains with cyl.3 then other options are lead ,injector ,or mechanical.in which case you would do a compression test, you could try cleaning the plugs and lightly greasing the plug lead connections to them as this was an old trick for these engines .

Hi there,

Thanks guys for your replies. I have after my last mail changed the plugs ( greases plugs and new leads ) and the problem is still there but now it seems worse??

I am getting really confused with this as nothing is coming up on diagnostics.

I have baught fuel additives ( stp´s) to see if it helps but no luck.. :-(

Grateful for any replies!

Thanks

Okay ,check the compressions and see if there is any difference with no 3 cylinder and the rest also look at the plug colouring to see any difference that may indicate a fault ,then you could swap the injector to see if the fault moves.

Hi again, well it never rains but it poures!

I have now had the ford tech on the phone in regards to my immobilisor
and he has stated that nothing is wrong with that so thats out of the way.

I does not start at all, it turnes over like normal but seems like there isn´t any spark?

Could it be, fuel pump, filters, injector etc? as in the old days : If you have fuel & spark = it starts!

Apart from this i dont really know what to do? i am now looking into buying a fuel pump, filters etc but don´t want to spend uneccesary money on the wrong parts..

Thanks again for all your help guys!!
