Focus cuts out when slowing and speedo sometimes stops working

i have a 2litre focus which doesnt start as it should and sometimes cuts out when slowing down also speedo stoped working other day, are these problems linked any ideas what these problems are, idle speed sensor keeps being suggesteed to me can this effect speedo and starting can it be fixed or do i get a new one thanks for any help

Try the engine speed sensor on the gearbox, common problem, can be a pain to get out.
