1999 Ford Focus loss of power and speedo occasionally

while driving sometimes the speedo will die and feel loss of power almost 2the point of car wanting 2stall,then after what can be for a few seconds to minutes the speedo will start working again and normal engine power is back,any ideas of how to sort this problem would be greatly appreciated,many thanks,olly

I had trouble with a breather pipe located at the back of the engine perishing and splitting with heat, also check the vehicle speed sensor on the gearbox, or idle speed control valve if fitte.
