2006 Ford Fiesta brake lights on permanently with normal lights

My girlfriend has a 56 plate Ford Fiesta.
Recently when the lights are on, all three brake lights are illuminated too.
I suspect it's a bulb problem, but unsure what. She recently fitted a new brake light bulb.

remove the new brake light bulbs & check the bottom of them see if there is 1 or 2 contacts, then check the bulb holder see if that has 1 or 2 contacts.if the holder has 1 & the bulb has 2 this will be your problem ,the bulbs should have the same number of contacts as the holder
