My battery light goes on and off itermedit so i called AA he checked battery and alternator both fine so booked it into ford garage and was told alternator fault so got new one but problem still persists so they then told me it was ecu but would cost £1500+vat so i sourced a second hand one from the same car as mine which is in working order so went back to ford garage and they coded it into my car but problem is back anyone any ideas what it could be coz i dont think FORD have
Is it the original battery ? ( unlikely ) If replaced is it correct type ? Was battery and alternator LOAD tested ? If wrongly diagnosed by Ford you should have claimed back alternator .Check all earths , especially from power unit to body .
Also when battery light comes on i lose my heated windscreen if that helps?and taking it to ford again so will get them to check the battery they told me first time i went they have never had a fault like this ever before
Yes its been scanned for fault all pointed to a altarnater fault thts why they fitted new one and when out test driving the battery light came back on thts when they said it must be ECU unit but cost 1500+vat so i got one from same car as mind as i was good working order ford coded it in ran it for a hour or so no fault then i drive home from work fault appears
Yes all wires and contecters replaced ford have now told me to take the car to them again there going to take new alternator out and replace it with one out of there cars they have on court yard as they have never came across a fault like this before
I once had 2 new alternators direct from my parts dept that were faulty .Third one o.k But that was the only time in a lifetime in the motor trade .COULD be a dud they fiited .Let's know how you get on .
