Car engine light staying on dash

my wife car engine light staying on dash also only doing about 20 miles to the gallon took it to a garage he connect it to his computer and the code read (Po130 o2 sensor signal before cat) he put the engine light off told me to drive it if the light come back on then bring it back, can anyone please tell me what the code mean and dost the word cat mean catalytic converter, first thought it could be bad petrol as i live near the border some people round here are telling me they had similar problems with their cars, change petrol station but problem still the same. thanks

Yes , cat means catalytic converter.Fault code Po130 does come back as - 02 sensor[lambda] circuit malfunction bank1 sensor 1

can you give me a rough idea what it would cost to replace a catalytic converter, and is it possible to get one second hand, and many thanks.

From what you say , you just need new sensor , not a cat. If you go onto E-bay ,put in details and you will get an idea of price , or contact any local motor factor or exhaust centre and compare prices .Usually can save some money with a few calls if you do need one .

thanks for everything but was i need to know is, is it a exhaust sensor that needs to be replace the car is 04 fiat punto 1.2. p.s. the reason this is a great website is because of people like you all thanks again. come on reality ya.
