2000 Fiat Punto asking for a key code after disabling the battery????

Car: Fiat Punto
Year: 2000

I have recently purchased a 2nd hand Punto, after having initial problems (posted via an earlier thread) i have had to change the gear box. This fine have manged that but after having the battery unplugged for 4days when we reconnected it last night its now asking for a code on the dash??? we have no idea what this is for and have not had any code given to me when i bought the car.

Any ideas??

i have a fiat doblo and have come across this issue you take your car to fiat and they can find the keycode for you and enter it for you
