could anyone possibly provide any information as to the problem with my car, i seem to be losing revs when stopping and also leakage of oil from rocker box cover and sudden surges of power

sounds like you have a problem with idle control valve,you will need to remove it and clean it out,check all of your vacuum pipes are ok and engine breathers are not blocked,for the oil leaking it sounds like cam cover gasket is leaking,simply renew the gasket and torque bolts to correct setting
