2000 Fiat Punto not getting to full speed

it seems to have just lost power it will not go above 45-50mph somebody did say it may be a air lock in one of tthe injectors but want to get anybodys thoughts as im clueless when it comes to cars so if you can help it would be much appreciated

does it misfire or is it smooth up to top speed?

does the car misfire?or is just lack of power?any warning lights on dash?

no it doesnt misfire it just wont get up to max speed in any gear in 1st its 10mph 2nd 20 3rd 40 then 4tyh and 5th upto 55 60

if no warning lights on then you need to start checking things like throttle housing is`nt clogged up and that all intake pipe and vacuum pipes are fitted ok and not damaged,check all your sensors are plugged in,have you had the fuel or air filters changed recently,if not then its worth replacing them
