Stearing warning light

when parking last night, i put the city on and when i turned the wheel full lock, i felt a jult and the stearing become heavey and the stearing warning light come on, i turned the ignishon off and started again, the stearing was back to normal untill i went full lock again. can any onr please help

the motor on the steering colum will need replacing as had the same problem on my friends car and replaced the whole motor with colum costing 400 quid start to finish including labour hope this helps
