If the car is losing water you will have to see what is causing leak . If you can't see leak , a pressure test on cooling system should show cause .It could be something simple or a major fault like head gasket . The exhaust fumes again will have to be checked out . Could be exhaust or gasket .If the car is overheating due to water loss , you may have a knacked thermostat also.

are u sure the fumes are exhaust.sounds like water/coolant leak on hot engine or aleaking heater matrix letting fumes in to the vents. if u disconnect the hoses from the heater rad and join them together refil with water this will eliminate the matrix.hope this helps.
