2004 Fiat Punto at about 2 and a half thousand revs car shuts down.

After a couple of minutes from cold car gets to 2 and a half thousand revs and cuts of till you ease off again.
If you hold the throttle down in neutral it revs up and down on its own at about one second intervals at the top of each rev the engine light comes on and goes off again when it drops.
Had it plugged in and showing no codes previous codes were lambda sensor after cat but had that done.

If the light comes on there HAS to be codes.
Check it while it's doing this rather than later.
Also check for induction leaks.

Check engine breather hose for splits .
