2006 Fiat Punto gear problem

I put the gear in to N and start the car and then when i try to put the gear in to D or R it doesn't work. After trying 5-6 times it works again. Also when i am driving in the road some time the gear automatically shifts into N. What is the problem with my car and what should i do?

Check ATF level .

I have checked that but the ATF level is oky

You need to get it scanned then and see what faults shown .

i showed it to a service center and they said that the clutch and the accumulator must be changed. can it be the cause for the problem?

What do you mean by a service centre ? Kwik fit or similar or a Fiat centre ?

Could get a second opinion from Auto g/box specialist to verify or not their diagnose .Usually plenty listed in Yellow pages but may well be right in what they suggest .
