High revving noise

2000 Fiat Punto Automatic speed gear

Automatic making high revving noise as if its in the wrong gear but its in drive. Never noticed numbers on the dash before but now it goes from drive to 1 at high revs really noisy then if ibreak is touched moves up to 2 etc. someone put oil in last week not sure if this is connected . Please help. I've had battery put in and starter motor running out of dosh !!

Sound,s like the box is slipping,or gear linkage is not right.
