2001 Fiat Punto starting after stopping

Sometimes when the car has been stopped for a short time it wont start, if left longer it will eventually start. Also it kept cutting out yesterday and stopping and again started after a long stop. any one got any ideas.

When was the car last serviced and the likes of plugs , air filter checked ?
