Thrust Bearing should it have a clip on it?to fit on fork in gearbox

hi should thrust bearing have clip on it as whene i got clutch kit from ebay the thrust bearing didnt have eny clips to fit to the fork thingy bit in the gear box i have it all back togeather but 1st 2nd gear cant get all rest seem to be ok tryed adjusting gear rod bit that is bolted onto gearbox holded on by 1 bolt but still cant so going to take gearbox off and have another look as it is on but i only slid it on so maybe bearing needs to hook onto the for thing somehow if eny1 can help with this would be good thanks
