2006 Fiat Punto not staying in gear and juddering

the car goes in gear then goes for all of 10 metres then it judders and stalls the noise does not sound a healthy one like a big clunk then I proceeded to push the car in reverse in neutral there was a grinding noise then the sound as if something is loose. I am not mechanicaly minded so any response must be broken down into leymans terms thanks.

Possible broken drive shaft or constant velocity joint.
If these are ok, then you need to get the clutch or gearbox looked at...
