2001 Fiat Punto orange light on the petrol gadge

i have just bought a punto a few weeks ago and have since had a few problems with it. i dont travel very far in the car but it nearly always has an orange light showing under the petrol gadge so i always have to top up. i didnt think it would use alot of petrol as its only a 1.2 can any1 shed some light to whats wrong.

how far up is the pointer on your fuel gauge if very low fill tank up say about £20 this should give you at least half a tank and you should be doing about 200+ miles on that
