2001 Fiat Punto two issues poor heat & fan not working

Car: Fiat Punto
Year: 2001
Variant: 1.2 ELX

I have two problems with the Punto which I got recently;

1. The Fan is not working at all - the control knob can be turned around continously but is not making any contact with anything (I think)What do I need to do to sort this out? How do I get off the panel that these controls are housed within?

2. Apart from the above the Heater is very poor and is pushing out very little Heat. I was wondering would the Pollen Filter be clogged or does it even have a Pollen Filter. What do I need to do to improve it?

Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.

You need to first check all your fuzes are ok, then check you are getting power at the motor, and that the motor does still work, this will need a power supply applied by your self to test it.
It could be the switch but more likely to be the motor.
Your heater will under perform without a fan to assist it
