i can leave my car ticking over then suddenly it will rev up on its own i then
have 2 switch it off if dont it will go bang

Check or clean idle air control valve / stepper motor and throttle body . Check for any vacuum pipes / hoses leaking .

i used drive a punto gt for few years . im a mechanic check the trottle idle sensor on top of engine or possibly your vacum pipes are cracked or perished
