Will not start very well

Fiat Marea 1.6 (1999) takes about 20 turns of the ignition key to start.It gets a bit stronger each turn until it eventually starts.Also temperature gauge has now packed up and just noticed on the last drive out that the fan is running continuosly. Once it has started it will start o.k. for hours until it is parked up overnight and then problem returns.
