1996 Citroen ZX car wont start

although engine turns over fine the car fails to start.also as engine is turning over large amounts of smoke are omitted from the exhaust. i have managed to get it started once like this after around ten minutes and it ran fine but once stopped has failed to start again.dont know if it is connected but i put fuel in the car the day before the problems started and yes i did put the right fuel in the receipt was the first thing i checked. PLEASE HELP!

the first thing you always try with a diesel is the fuel filter.remove clean bowl replace with new filter prime as per handbook start(with luck)

Glow plugs: I had a similar problem with my 306.
Fitting a new set restored its instant starting.
