Citroen Xsara Picasso Idle Air Control Valve Problems

When changing from 1st to 2nd only the engine revs stay up. After a while it stops doing it but on occasions if I'am at a stop it will do it again and then clears again. Anyone any ideas as to cause and fix.No management lights showing.

Engine intermittently cutting out, when slowing down at a junction or stoppin, restarts straight away, this can happen once a week, or 1-2 times a day, sometimes can go a whole week without happenin ???
