2004 Citroen Xsara Picasso engine revs

When changing from 1st to 2nd only the engine revs stay up. After a while it stops doing it but on occasions if I'am at a stop it will do it again and then clears again. Anyone any ideas as to cause and fix.No management lights showing.

Check / clean idle air control valve stepper motor and throttle body .
