2001 Citroen Xantia interior electrical faults

Car: Citroen Xantia
Year: 2001
Variant: HDi
Categories: Leaks & Noises
when I bought the car the engine imobiliser buzzer sounded continuously for about 20 secs each time I started the car and citroen suggested i live with it, then occasionally when parked the flashers would all come on for a few secs and the car would unlock (making me think I had lost my marbles and not locked the car, until i witnessed it ) then soon afterwards i have no instruments no horn no front windows no central lockin no radio no clock. Car drives well but when operate indicators instruments do mercedes wiper movements and clock flashes on in time to indicators which don't sound as they should. I've checked fuses all ok and ground terminals near battery all ok. Any ideas

Check your main earth strap from the battery negative is okay ,It could be a more indepth electrical issue ,you may require the services of an auto electrician.

as above check earth leads could also be a broken or wire shorting out in a post trunking on one of the front doors

Unfortunately Citroens were plagued by electrical problems, I had a Xantia estate with strange electrical niggles, turned out to be the ignition switch relay tucked away underneath steering column, if you have no experience dealing with car electrics you'll have no chance fixing anything like this on your Citroen, another favourite is the leccy windows which sometimes wouldn't work, that was the cheap electrical connecting blocks in the door wiring .... good luck !
