2012 1.6 petrol car purchased end September 2023, and full service carried out on purchase from garage that I have used for many years which included full oil change. Changed oil required top up approx 6 weeks later following dashboard comms. A further request from dashboard comms has come through 27.02.24, again saying oil top up required. Garage says there is slight blow back from exhaust and that oil consumption is common with this make of vehicle and have topped up the oil . There is no oil leak and dashboard comms not faulty. Main use of car is school run, 4 x day at around 30 mins each trip and weekly shopping. Should I accept this frequency of oil top or consider getting another car?

If no oil leaks or excessive blue smoke from exhaust , may have to live with it . If PCV valve blocked it can oil leaks . It could be possible that initially the oil level was not correctly topped up to level . Just have to keep an eye on it now , but not an ideal situation .
