Clutch and flywheel failure

Bought as demonstrator with 4000 on clock.At 8000 miles it had catastrophic failure of clutch and flywheel.Citroen won't accept full responsibility for repair and want me to pay £550 toward repair,their reason being that it is my driving style that is to blame.I'm 64 years old and have driven for over 45 years on all types vehicles from runarounds to top marques and I find the assumption ridiculous. Your comments please and are you aware of any similar problems with this vehicle.

If there is a mechanical defect with either clutch or flywheel , should be covered by warranty . ( unless you are doing rallying or 1/4 mile drags at weekend !!!!!!!)
