Citroen C4 alternator only putting out 12.8v, can it be repaired ?

I had the battery changed because of starting problems and because it had been on since new. Since having it changed various electrical gremlins have appeared, i have had it checked over and was informed that the alternator was only putting out 12.8v and it should be 14v. Can the alternator be refurbished as a new one is circa £1000.

You should be able to get it cheaper by shopping around but must be certain it is the correct one . There are many who recondition alternators but a lot of cowboys in this field also , got to be very careful . Another possible source would be a breakers / scrap yard .
