The engine loses power and goes into limp mode.

The engine loses power and goes into limp mode. Service light came on, orange engine pictogram came on, warning came on saying ‘ engine fault, get the engine repaired’, the speed limiter stopped working. I was on a Spanish autoroute at the time. I get to a service area, turned the engine off and on and it seemed ok. I drive about 1km and it happened again. I turned the engine off, got out of the car, locked it and then unlocked it, got back in and started and stopped the engine about 6 times, I drove the remaining 200km and now it seems to be ok. I have to drive 1500km to get home and I’m worried. Has anyone else had this problem ?
