Turbo Boost

2006 Citroen C4 1.6 HDI
Car: Citroen C4
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.6 HDI
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
During October 2016 whilst driving my car just lost power as if the turbo went into limp mode. It was so bad I could not even drive in 5th gear. I took it to the local Citroen dealers to fix. First they said it was the intercooler that was blocked with carbon. After cleaning it out no difference and turbo boost light showed on dash. They then said it was the turbo and got it reconditioned. Still no difference. Then they suggested replacing the fuel pump. Still no luck. Then they fiddled on the fuse box and reckon there was a loose connection. After spending R46000 or more or less R3800 dollar I got the car back. Now it feels like there is almost no turbo. Up to 3000RPM it battle even in 2nd gear to pick up speed. Only at about 3000 it starts to pull but not nearly as it was before. Any suggestions.

Check the turbo boot solenoid valve and piping.
usual for these default is no turbo until the vac solenoid is activated by the ECU.
Vacuum is supplied by the vacuum pump.
So I'd check there's vac at the pump,
then along the pipe to the solenoid then down to the turbo.
And from the sound of it stay away from the dealers,
They're clueless.

Thanks 1/4 drive for the info on vacuum pump and solenoid. Where will this pump and solenoid be situated on the hdi?

Might be worth replacing timing belt as very near the recommended interval and may be worn / stretched throwing timing out .
