No drive (automatic)

Taking my son to school on Monday morning and the car just knocked itself back into neutral. Couldnt get any drive on it at all. Wont go out of neutral, even when moving the gear stick to A and R nothing happens. Diagnostic check shows 'gearbox fault' any ideas what it could be?

Its a 59 plate C4 hatchback

Gear box fault is hardly any use!
Get it plugged into "Lexia" duagnostics at Citroen or a specialist and read the codes from there.
French car just don't communicate accurately with ANY other diagnostics.
