Oil Starvation problem

2004 Citroen C4 1.6 auto
Car: Citroen C4
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.6 auto
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi - had terrible trouble with our Citroen over the summer. Loss of power, gear problems, blowers stopped working, pipes blocked so leak in driver footwell.... We took it to Citroen Leicester who suggested a new gear box for the gear problem costing about £3k! No thanks! Found an automatic specialist who told us about an oil starvation problem with this production run of C4s - we found out the car needs an oil change every few months.... So with a new turbo something, oil change and filter the car was working like a dream until tonight when I was driving home, it wouldn't go into 6th gear, kept revving, dropping down a gear and no power... I'm guessing it's ready for another oil change but f any one has any other ideas please let me know because it's becoming a right pain in the ar*e! Thanks

Maybe time to change your car if reliability is so poor.

We've thought the same. With 4 kids we can't have a car that doesn't work. Especially with winter on it's way.

have the car checked out just to be sure it is the same problem as could be something else related to it is there any signs of oil loss ie damp around the transmission at all which would state a problem due to low oil level hence the gear change problem but if this is the case then i would consider a car change too

My car is still out of action since my post on 10th Sep. The garage said we were experiencing loss of power due to a faulty turbo (new turbo was fitted mid July) now the garage is saying oil starvation has lead to problems with the turbo - could this be the case? I need to get my facts straight before going to Trading Standards. Turbo, new filter and oil change was carried out in July so it's all under warranty. We have travelled to France and back and clocked up a fair few miles since having the work done but surely that shouldn't make a difference.

Yes concidering getting a new car....
What's the best 7 seater diesel on the market, can anyone recommend please?
