2005 Citroen C3 smoke from exhaust

I just bought the car privatley. I've had it serviced. It has smoke coming out (quite a lot) when i start it and it judders. This stops after a few minutes. It is a diesel car and has high mileage the garage put a cleaner through it. But it has not made anything difference

Might be something as simple as a faulty reading Coolant temperature sensor.
Best get it scanned.

sounds like an injector fault...does it start easily?

These cars suffer with turbo failure, check inside boost
pipes for excessive oil. Also run live data on injectors they also are a common fault.

Yes it does start easily. Just emits a large amount of smoke and vibrates when you first start it up especially after it has been standing a while. The garage put a cleaner through but this has made no difference at all.
