2004 Citroen C3 lack of power on hills

Car: Citroen C3
Year: 2004
Variant: Stop and Start
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
Citroen C3 with Stop and Start automatic gearbox.

Lack of power when going up hills, have to change down to 3'rd gear on gentle hills and 2'nd gear on anything steeper. Car also judders when in 2'nd on steep hills as if not enough torque even with the low gear.

There is sometimes a little bit of clutch slip after a gear change down on steep hills. This stops if I briefly take foot off the accelerator and let the engine rpm fall and rise again.

Engine warning light also comes on briefly when climbing hills. This goes out after changing down to a lower gear.

Car is 2004 model but low mileage (13,500 approx).

Ignition coils were replaced about a year ago after engine warning light came on, this cured that problem.

It might be your spark plugs need changing. But it sounds like you might have a worn clutch.
